EconMin Miruta signs founding act of Destination Management Organization „Brancusi’s Home”

The Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu Miruta, announced on Thursday that he had signed the founding act of the Destination Management Organization (OMD) „Brancusi’s Home”.

„A more special signature today for me: I just issued the birth certificate of the OMD ‘Brancusi’s Home’. An OMD that, if it gets moving quickly, can receive money just like all the others. There was money for OMDs in the PNRR, but there was no framework through which to use this money. Well, a lot can be done if you work a little, if you don’t mind losing something. I quickly launched a guide for public consultation through which 10 million euros will go to tourism infrastructure development projects so that by July as much of this money as possible can be used. The localities that were diligent and organized themselves into OMDs are now receiving funds. The others see with their own eyes how they are losing money and maybe that way they will understand how important it is to take the step”, the minister wrote on Thursday in a post on the institution’s Facebook account.

He mentioned that this measure encourages public-private partnerships, reduces pressure on local budgets and creates the chance for projects that actually improve the visitor experience.

„OMDs are becoming increasingly important for the promotion and development of tourism. The more we have, the better we cover Romania’s tourism potential. Yes, it is possible, even when we have to take care of each leu in the budget! Taking care also means not missing opportunities through which, with European money, you can concretely develop a local project”, Radu Miruta also wrote.
