Senior governmental official for Romanians everywhere Gheorghe Carciu on Sunday, January 15, Romania’s National Culture Day, issued a message saying that education and culture are priorities on the agenda of the Department for Romanians Everywhere (DRP), according to Agerpres.
„Dear Romanians everywhere, every year on January 15 we celebrate the National Culture Day, which reminds us of the great Mihai Eminescu’s contribution to the development of Romanian culture. Our national poet endowed the word with new powers that highlighted history, mythology, philosophy and, last but not least, Romanian folklore. We are glad that this important day is marked all over the world, among communities outside the country’s borders. May the verses of the great poet, born of longing and love for the country, touch the hearts of Romanians and take root among the younger generations! Education and culture are priorities on the agenda of the Department for Romanians Everywhere,” reads Carciu’s message in Romanian posted on the DRP Facebook page.
Carciu says that DRP will continue to support the Romanian communities outside the country in preserving their ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious identity.
„We are confident that together we can develop a series of programmes under which we can support the study of Romanian as a mother tongue, the promotion of Romanian cultural values and national symbols among Romanians everywhere.”
