The general methodological framework that the Ministry of Education is preparing to adopt, at the proposal of ARACIS, will facilitate the implementation of policies on the social dimension of higher education within universities, Education Minister Ligia Deca said on Tuesday.

According to her, the implementation of a new type of external evaluation in Romania that allows higher education establishments to develop their own standards and performance indicators is an „important” step in securing education quality.

„One of the fundamental principles of quality assurance is the ability to adapt to the diverse range of institutions, programmes and students. Therefore, the implementation of a new type of external evaluation in Romania, which allows higher education establishments to develop their own standards and performance indicators, is an important step in securing education quality. The general methodological framework that we are preparing to adopt, at the proposal of ARACIS, will facilitate the implementation of policies on the social dimension of higher education within universities. Quality education and lifelong learning opportunities are fundamental to educating responsible students who can contribute to a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world,” Deca wrote in a social media post.

Deca on Tuesday attended the opening of the 14th biennial forum of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), hosted by ARACIS at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.

At the ceremony, she underlined the importance of the quality assurance partnership between the Ministry of Education and ARACIS and discussed the new Law on Higher Education and its impact on the educational mission to generate, certify and transfer knowledge.

She also mentioned the importance of community involvement by carrying out joint activities to the benefit of the higher education establishments and the social, economic and cultural environment.
