Education Minister Ligia Deca met on Thursday her Moldovan counterpart Dan Perciun, with whom she discussed the support that her institution is giving to the authorities in Chisinau to strengthen projects on the teaching and learning of the Romanian language by pupils and adults.

Ligia Deca is participating, on Wednesday and Thursday, in Tirana, in the Ministerial Conference of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and in the Global Forum, events that bring together dignitaries responsible for higher education, representatives of students and higher education institutions.

„In the context of the Ministerial Conference in Tirana, I had a meeting with Dan Perciun, minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. We discussed the support that the Romanian Ministry of Education is giving to the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to strengthen projects on teaching and learning Romanian language by students and adults. Also, the interest of experts from the Republic of Moldova to collaborate with Romanian experts both for the elaboration and the evaluation of school textbooks was highlighted,” Deca wrote on Facebook.

According to the minister, recent reforms in Moldova have an important component of internationalisation of higher education institutions to increase the attractiveness and quality of education.

„I am convinced that the relationship between the two countries will be strengthened as they will host, from July 2024, the Bologna Follow-up Group Secretariat, the largest voluntary intergovernmental cooperation, which brings together 49 member states and the European Commission, as well as advisory members,” said Minister Ligia Deca.
