The minister of Education, Ligia Deca, has joined the Liberal National Party (PNL), according to a press release sent by Bucharest’s PNL Sector 6, write Agerpres.
„We are glad that we have a colleague of your rank at PNL Sector 6 and I am convinced that together we will do good things for the western part of our city,” the chairman of the branch, Ciprian Ciucu, told the minister of Education, Ligia Deca, according to the source.
She said that PNL Sector 6 „was a natural option”.
„Besides the fact that I live in Sector 6, PNL Sector 6 was the leadership of the party. You can see the good management and the presence of PNL in the sector. It was an absolutely natural option and I wanted to do things for this sector in the educational area. I know that we have schools under construction with the World Bank (financing, ed. n.), we have educational units that are being rehabilitated with European funds. It is important to help the community as much as we can,” said Deca, quoted in the press release.
On June 29, 2015, Ligia Deca was appointed state counselor at the Presidential Administration, and on December 23, 2019, she was appointed as presidential counselor for Education and Research in the team of president Klaus Iohannis. Ligia Deca coordinated the Educated Romania project. After the resignation of Sorin Cimpeanu, on October 3, 2022, Ligia Deca was appointed to lead the Ministry of Education, being proposed and supported by PNL.
