The Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, met on Wednesday with the Director General of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the OECD, William D. Magwood, IV, with whom she discussed the importance of study programs in the field of nuclear engineering and the need to have more specialists in this sector.

„Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. William D. Magwood, IV, Director General of the OECD’s Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), with whom I discussed the importance of nuclear engineering degree programs and the need to have more specialists in this sector,” Deca wrote on Facebook.

According to her, Romania has an important tool – the complete dual route, which offers the opportunity to have specialists in the energy field at all levels.

Also, the minister added, through the programs they offer, the universities contribute to one of the most important objectives of the NEA: the need to maintain and develop, through international cooperation, the scientific bases that ensure the responsible use of nuclear energy.

„Today’s meeting was all the more important as Romania is in full process of joining the OECD, an organization that brings together the most developed countries in the world,” Ligia Deca said.
