Primary energy resources decreased by 3.3%, and electricity resources decreased by 1.2% in the first four months, compared to the same period in 2023, the National Institute of Statistics announced on Friday.
According to INS data, the main primary energy resources, in the first four months, totaled 10.29 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), down by 349,700 toe compared to the same period in 2023.
Domestic production amounted to 5.885 million toe in the mentioned period, down by 259,900 toe (-4.2%) compared to the same period last year, and imports amounted to 4.405 million toe, down by 89,800 toe (-2%).
During this period, electricity resources amounted to 22.835 billion kWh, down by 275.4 million kWh compared to the same period in 2023.
Production from thermal power plants was 6.13 billion kWh, down by 295 million kWh (-4.6%). Production from hydropower plants was 5.892 billion kWh, down by 940.1 million kWh (-13.8%), and that from nuclear-power plants was 3.983 billion kWh, down by 19.7 million kWh (-0.5%).
The production from wind power plants, between January 1 and April 30, 2024, was 2.630 billion kWh, down by 520 million kWh (minus 16.5%) compared to the same period in 2023, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations (including prosumers) in the mentioned period was 800.4 million kWh, up by 268.4 million kWh (plus 50.5%) compared to the same period last year.
The final electricity consumption in this period was 16.744 billion kWh, 0.1% higher than between January 1 and April 30, 2023, while the final electricity consumption in the economy increased by 0.7%; public lighting decreased by 12.8%, and household consumption decreased by 1.4%.
Electricity exports amounted to 4.172 billion kWh, down by 202.7 million kWh. The own technological consumption in the networks and stations was 1.919 billion kWh, down by 85.3 million kWh.
