Energy companies are very well represented on stock exchange

Published on

Energy companies are very well represented on the stock exchange, Romania being, as for capitalization, in the third position in Central and Eastern Europe, after Poland and Austria, but before Hungary and the Czech Republic, declared on Wednesday the president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), Radu Hanga at a conference on energy.

„We are in a very good position now. Taking into account the size of the economy and the big challenge for us, as the stock exchange, is only one, that of supporting the Romanian companies listed on the stock market as best as possible, in order to increase their visibility and ensure their access to financing,” said Radu Hanga.

Referring to the discussions about green energy, the BVB chairman said that in Europe, Romania is among the least polluting countries, together with Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal and Spain, and the states that pollute the most are „about two to three times over us per capita”, referring in particular to the USA.
„To the surprise of many, China is perhaps halfway, in terms of pollution, because it produces, but does not consume, only exports,” said Hanga, noting that there are two ways to measure pollution, that is to measure it where it is produced or where the product is consumed.

The Bursa newspaper organized on Wednesday the 12th edition of the „Energy in the Plug” conference, among the proposed topics being the projects and strategies of energy companies in the current geo-political context and the need for investments in the Romanian energy system.
