Minister of the Environment Diana Buzoianu on Wednesday, following the rejection of the simple motion against her, said legal procedures must be followed, and that in the case of the Pascani Hydroelectric Plant, analyses were carried out based on documents.
„According to the current law, if this is the law we are looking at today, an inter-ministerial committee will be established, in which these studies will be technically analysed. That a technical analysis of these studies is necessary is also evident from the fact that the technical review carried out by these committees for Pascani, for example, resulted not in one, not two, but three rounds of amendments to the studies from Hidroelectrica. Therefore, legal procedures must be carried out, because they will ultimately ensure that people’s rights are protected, and that these projects are in compliance with environmental legislation,” said Diana Buzoianu at Parliament.
When asked about the Pascani Hydroelectric Plant, the minister of Environment said that she had conducted document-based analyses.
„And I already said on Monday that we are aiming for this week, if not, then by next week at the latest. It’s simply a matter of internal stages for obtaining signatures, which were still pending in the past few days. I repeat, we had this study carried out separately by Apele Romane (Romanian Waters), because we wanted to make sure that the primary role of these hydro plants is respected and that all measures have been followed. We received this study, completed by Apele Romane, less than a week ago. As a result, it is now on a clear path,” Buzoianu said.
Asked about the position of the PSD, the Minister replied: „I’m less concerned with subjective opinions. I’m focused on the legislation itself, on discussing things objectively. A lot of people are trying to frame this as a political dispute these days. I’m at ease because I know I have the law on my side, and, in fact, the law is being followed to the letter today. And this is something I wish for all ministers, to respect absolutely all legislation to the letter, and I’m confident that is what they will do.” AGERPRES
