The government will approve over EUR 200 million in financing for the Ministry of Education for the rehabilitation of schools, so that they become modern educational units with reduced energy consumption, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday.
„Today we also approve an important decision for the development of the network of green schools in Romania. We are financing the Ministry of Education with over 200 million euros. The money will be used for the rehabilitation of schools, so that we have modern units with low energy consumption,” Ciolacu announced, at the beginning of the weekly meeting of the government.
The prime minister specified that the government will also discuss the partnership between the Ministry of Education and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development worth USD one billion, for ten years.
„With this money, we increase access to quality education for at least 300,000 primary and secondary school students. In addition, we support 100,000 vocational students to continue their studies in post-secondary education. And 50,000 teachers, especially those who teach in vulnerable areas, will benefit from various forms of support,” Marcel Ciolacu detailed.
