The policemen with the Bacau Criminal Investigation Service, together with special forces and forensic specialists, carried out two house searches, in the town of Garleni, for carrying out a European arrest warrant in a case of theft with particularly serious consequences, setting up an organized criminal group and money laundering, deeds committed in France, according to Agerpres.
The spokesperson for Bacau Police stated that at one of the locations searched, a 32-year-old man was identified, suspected of committing the deeds and with a European arrest warrant on his name.
„In fact, the French judicial authorities are investigating the fact that, on the night of November 23/24, 2019, within the radius of a French town, a theft of 55 car catalyst converters was allegedly committed at the expense of a company specialized in vehicle maintenance Until now, the judicial authorities in France have identified a total number of 110 theft crimes, which represent about 500 catalyst converters, with a total damage assessed at more than one million EUR,” said the spokesperson for Bacau Police, sub-commissioner Catalina Paduraru.
On the occasion of the home searches, several material means of evidence that are of interest in this file were identified and seized.
The suspect was taken to the headquarters of Bacau Police, and later he was presented to the Prosecutor’s Office with the Bacau Court of Appeal, for serving the European arrest warrant issued in his name.
