European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be in Romania on Monday, where she is scheduled to meet in Constanta with President Nicusor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the Presidential Administration announced.
Talks will focus on strengthening EU-NATO cooperation, as well as on issues related to the prevention, detection and deterrence of maritime and hybrid threats, the same source said.
Starting Friday, the head of the European Executive will visit Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Romania.
According to the European Commission Representation in Romania, her visits are meant to highlight „EU support for member states facing challenges due to their shared borders with Russia or Belarus.”
Von der Leyen will discuss Europe’s security and defence with government leaders and military officials.
In Romania, the European Commission president will hold talks with government and army officials on EU-NATO cooperation, as well as on preventing, detecting, deterring and defending against maritime and hybrid threats.
