Moldovan President Maia Sandu met European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn, in Chisinau, according to Moldpres.
„The European perspective is clear for the Republic of Moldova. However, the country is currently going through difficult times. The war in Ukraine has affected the whole world, especially small countries, which are the most vulnerable. In difficult situations we have increased our financial support, we will continue to do so so that you can get through this crisis. The European Union wants to help you solve problems related to logistics chains and energy supplies. Together we will look for feasible solutions for the Republic of Moldova and we will do our best to help you. You are a candidate country for accession to the European Union, which must become a member country, for that we will work together. I assure you that we will do everything to help and support you,” said Johannes Hahn, during a press conference held at the end of the meeting.
„To get through this crisis we need support. We need to compensate citizens for the increase in natural gas price. The government has established the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, but its resources need to be replenished to help people. We are grateful for your support so far. European integration continues to be our national project for which we will work. The government has prepared an action plan to implement the measures set out and aims to achieve progress as quickly as possible. We expect cooperation from the European institutions. We do not want preferential treatment, but a constructive dialogue. We are sure that the Republic of Moldova has a prosperous future with the family of European states”, said Maia Sandu.
