Factory-gate prices rose by 4.7% in the EU and by 4.6% in the eurozone in June, compared with the same period in 2025, with Bulgaria and Romania being the EU member states with the highest increases in this indicator, according to data published Wednesday by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).
In June, compared with the same period in 2025, the largest increase in industrial producer prices in the EU was recorded in Bulgaria (18.2%), Romania (14.3%), and Ireland (11.4%), with the only decline occurring in Luxembourg (minus 3.7%).
Eurostat notes that industrial producer prices in the EU were influenced in particular by a 10% increase in energy prices, a 2.2% in capital goods prices, a 5.7% increase in intermediate goods prices, and a 2.8% increase in durable goods prices, while prices for non-durable goods fell by 0.7%.
Compared with the previous month, industrial producer prices fell by 0.2% in the EU and by 0.3% in the euro area in June.
The largest increases in industrial producer prices in the EU in June compared with May were recorded in Slovakia (1.1%), Romania (1%), and Estonia (+0.9%), while the sharpest declines were in Lithuania (down 1.7%), Ireland (down 1.5%), Bulgaria, and Greece (down 1.3%).
Eurostat notes that industrial producer prices in the EU were influenced in particular by a 0.3% increase in prices for capital goods, a 0.3% in the prices of intermediate goods, and a 0.2% increase in the prices of durable goods, while there was a 0.1% decrease in the prices of non-durable goods and a 1.4% decrease in energy prices.
According to data published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), in Romania, overall industrial production prices (domestic and foreign markets) rose by 12.7% in June of this year compared to the same period in 2025.
Among the major industrial sectors, the largest price increase was recorded in the energy sector, specifically 24.47% in June 2026 compared to June 2025, while the intermediate goods industry saw a 10.17% jump, the capital goods industry a 6.38% increase, and the consumer goods industry a 5.27% rise, and in the durable goods sector—by 2.87%.
According to the cited source, the industrial producer price index, broken down by sections and divisions, shows increases of 23.32% in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water, and air conditioning, in June of this year compared to the same period in 2025, as well as a 14.20% increase in water distribution; sanitation, waste management, and decontamination activities, followed by a 9.09% increase in the manufacturing industry and an 8.25% increase in the mining and quarrying industry.
Compared to the previous month, in June of this year, industrial producer prices, combined for the domestic and foreign markets, rose by 0.8%.
