New investment contracts are signed daily for projects in the energy sector, with the total amount exceeding 14 billion euros in non-reimbursable funding, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, announced on Thursday, at a press conference.
„These are important days for the national energy sector and for the Ministry of Energy. Every day we manage to sign new investment contracts, and from the calculation made by my colleagues it follows that we exceeded the amount of 14 billion euros in non-reimbursable financing, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the Modernization Fund, The National Investment Plan and other sources, for projects in the energy sector. Today there were two signing events, first with private beneficiaries, Investment 5 from PNRR, where companies could purchase new equipment, modernize their production lines, so as to make their activity more efficient, to considerably reduce their electricity costs,” Sebastian Burduja mentioned.
He emphasized that efficiency means about 70% lower electricity costs, so „all these companies will be able to be more competitive on the national, European, global market, hire more people or pay higher wages.”
According to the Minister of Energy, until now there are 48 contracts with a total budget of 525 million RON.
He emphasized that each megawatt signed means, in fact, Romania’s chance to have safer energy, at a better and greener price.
„In total, today, the installed power 12 megawatts for this call, 22 contracts, 83 million RON total investment. Most of the funds come from this non-refundable financing from the Modernization Fund. From our point of view, we do our best to accelerate investments in the energy sector. Each megawatt we sign means, in fact, Romania’s chance to have a more secure energy, at a better and greener price,” the minister said.
