The Government approved a decision that will facilitate the participation of the Ministry of National Defense structures in collaborative projects and programmes carried out under the aegis of the European Defense Agency, in accordance with the political arrangements assumed by Romania, at EU level, a press release by the executive informs, according to Agerpres.

The decision modifies art. 1 lit. a) and b) of the Government Decision no. 147/2007 for the approval of the payment of Romania’s financial contributions to the common budgets of the European Defence Agency, the Satellite Centre of the European Union and the European Instrument for Peace, regarding the operations of the European Union that have military or defense implications.

„The piece of legislation updates the normative framework regarding the payment of Romania’s financial contributions to the joint budgets of the European Defence Agency, the EU Satellite Centre and the European Peace Facility. Through the amendments made, the participation of the Ministry of National Defense structures in collaborative projects and programmes carried out under the aegis of the European Defense Agency will be facilitated, in accordance with the project/programme arrangements signed by the Ministry of National Defense and taking into account the political commitments assumed by Romania, at EU level,” the source says.

At the same time, the piece of legislation establishes the necessary framework for the application of the provisions of articles 19-21 of the Council Decision 2015/1835/CFSP of 12 October 2015 defining the statute, headquarters and functioning regulations of the EDA.
