A fake-news exhibition called „In the footsteps of lies”, which traces the evolution of disinformation and misinformation over time in an educational and interactive way, from „traditional” propaganda to the most sophisticated digital manipulations of today, opens to visitors June 3-5, at R.A.M., Elisabeta Boulevard 37.

The opening will take place on Monday, at 16:00hrs, and will be followed by a discussion about disinformation in Romania facilitated by Elena Calistru, chair of Funky Citizens.

The exhibition will be open June 3 through June 5,16:00hrs to 22:00hrs, and on June 4, 16:00hrs to 19:0hrs.

Visitors will be invited to recognise signs of fake news through concrete examples, practical exercises and immersive experiments, to check sources of information and to think critically when consuming media content, the organisers, the Funky Citizens Association, said in a press statement.

„We want to translate for the public all the disinformation and misinformation buzzwords. Through the exhibition, we show why it is important to talk about fake news around elections and we want to awaken the critical spirit of voters. We raise an eyebrow at statements and falsehoods, we research, analyse and let the public decide in an interactive form how it affects their daily lives,” said Ana Mocanu, member of Funky Citizens and organiser of the exhibition.

Funky Citizens has been active in the area of combating disinformation and misinformation as well as fact-checking since 2014 with the appearance of Factual.ro, the first fact-checking platform for political statements in Romania.
