The Bucharest Gendarmerie said on Tuesday that it had fined three men who allegedly caused incidents at the farmers’ protest in Victory Square, with the fines totalling 11,000 lei.
”Following the incidents that occurred during the demonstration in Victory Square, three of the four men, aged between 39 and 57, who were taken by gendarmerie crews to the headquarters of police stations, were issued administrative fines totalling 11,000 lei, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 61/1991 and Law No. 60/1991,” the Bucharest Gendarmerie said in a statement sent to AGERPRES.
According to the quoted source, they behaved in an ‘uncooperative and recalcitrant’ manner and prevented the gendarmes from carrying out their duties in the area of the demonstration.
Additionally, another man who intended to reach Victory Square was found in the area of the North Railway Station carrying tear-gas spray. He was taken to the Railway Transport Police Bureau in order to establish the facts and take the necessary legal measures, the Gendarmerie said.
At the same time, another person, a 49-year-old woman with medical conditions, namely hypotension, became unwell and was taken to hospital for further investigations.
”Law enforcement officers remain on the ground and are acting to maintain public order and safety, as well as to prevent and manage any situations that could affect the safe conduct of the demonstration,” the Gendarmerie said.
