FinMin Bolos: We’re opening a budget appropriation line to ensure amount needed for increased pensions

The Ministry of Finance on Thursday will open a budget appropriation line needed to cover for the increases in pensions of 3.8 million pensioners as of September, informs the relevant minister, Marcel Bolos.

„We keep our promises and we are opening a budget appropriation line to ensure the necessary funds so that all pensioners will receive their increased pensions without delay! The team at the Ministry of Finance has been working hard to ensure that everything goes according to plan and pensioners will receive the money in their accounts as soon as possible. With today’s approval of the Memorandum for establishing the funds limit for September 2024, at the proposal of the Ministry of Finance, we ensure the increase of the monthly budget for pensions by more than Ron 2 billion. Thus, tomorrow we will open a budget appropriation line needed to ensure the amounts for the 3.8 million pensioners who receive increased pensions from September,” the minister wrote on Wednesday on his Facebook page.

He added that, for the Government of Romania, namely the Ministry of Finance, this means an additional effort of approximately Ron 10 billion, which they must ensure in the account of the National Public Pension House, during 2024.

„From a monthly average of approximately Ron 10.5 billion, the Ministry of Finance will provide the National Public Pensions House with approximately Ron 13 billion per month. I would like to thank all the colleagues involved at the level of the Ministry of Finance and ANAF [Fiscal Authority], regardless of whether we are talking about revenue collection, the State Treasury or the budget department responsible for securing funds for the budget, their efforts will materialize in securing money for our seniors. We have ensured that this increase in pensions is economically sustainable, so that we can continue to invest further for the future of Romania,” pointed out Marcel Bolos.
