The Black Sea is no longer a space of cooperation, but a theatre of war, as a result of the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation, stated on Thursday the Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, during the telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov.
In this context, the Defense Ministry (MApN) shows, the Romanian minister reiterated the firm message of condemnation of the unjustified attacks and in serious contradiction with the norms of international law executed by the Russian Federation against the civil port infrastructure of Ukraine at the Danube, in the proximity of the border with Romania.
„Romania condemns in the strongest terms the unprovoked and illegal Russian aggression against the Ukrainian people, especially the attacks on the Ukrainian population and civil infrastructure”, declared Angel Tilvar.
The discussions also focused on the state of Romania’s efforts to support the armed forces of Ukraine bilaterally, as well as the effective coordination of the multinational assistance projects to which Romania is a party.
Angel Tilvar reconfirmed Romania’s firm commitment regarding the continuation of the support given to Ukraine, including at the level of training within the European Union Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine (EUMAM UA) and within the INTERFLEX Operation, led by Great Britain.
Also, the Romanian minister of defense conveyed that Romania will continue to remain engaged in the efforts to support Ukraine carried out under the coordination of the Contact Group for Ukraine, reiterating, in this sense, as established from the beginning of the initiative, the availability of the country to ensure the conditions for Ukrainian pilots to start practical training in the European F-16 Training Center in Fetesti.
Rustem Umerov sent a message of gratitude regarding Romania’s decision to donate a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. He also thanked for the support given to his country since the first day of the start of the Russian war of aggression, in terms of humanitarian, diplomatic, grain export support, but also in other important areas.
