Former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu could run for the helm of the Buzau County Council.

”There are discussions for Marcel Ciolacu to run for the County Council. It would be a great honor for us, the organization, for former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to be able to run for the PSD at the Buzau County Council,” the PSD Buzau president, Romeo Lungu, told AGERPRES on Thursday.

The position remained vacant after Lucian Romascanu, who won the elections in 2024, resigned to go to the European Court of Auditors. His mandate as a member of the European Court of Auditors is for the period 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2031.

At this moment, the position of interim president of the Buzau County Council is held by the social democrat Adrian Petre, vice president of the County Council.

Marcel Ciolacu ran in the parliamentary elections on the PSD Buzau lists.
