Former presidential candidate Calin Georgescu presented himself before the General Prosecutor’s Office on Monday morning, in the case in which he is being investigated for actions against the constitutional order along with Horatiu Potra’s mercenary group.
According to judicial sources, the prosecutors summoned Calin Georgescu to inform him of a change in the classification for one of the crimes for which he was indicted, namely for attempted actions against the constitutional order, which now became complicity to the same crime.
The change comes after prosecutors questioned 18 mercenaries from Horatiu Potra’s group last Friday.
Dozens of Georgescu’s supporters showed up at the Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors claim that Horatiu Potra and his group of mercenaries aimed to infiltrate the protests organized immediately after the presidential elections were canceled, in order to create chaos.
The action plan was allegedly developed by Calin Georgescu and his close associates during a clandestine meeting that took place at the Ciolpani farm.
Georgescu has already been sent to trial in a separate case, in which he is accused of promoting, in public, the cult of persons guilty of committing crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, as well as the act of promoting, in public, fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic ideas, concepts or doctrines, in a continuous form.
