ForMin Odobescu, US secretary of homeland security discuss Visa Waiver Program

The minister of foreign affairs, Luminita Odobescu, and the US secretary of homeland security, Alejandro Mayorkas, on Friday discussed over the phone the measures, including the legislative ones, taken by Romania to fulfill the criteria needed to access to the Visa Waiver Program.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to AGERPRES on Friday, Minister Luminita Odobescu had a phone conversation with Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday, discussing measures, including the legislative ones, taken by the Romanian side to fulfill the necessary criteria for access to the Visa Waiver Program.

Minister Odobescu presented the effort of the entire administration for the implementation of these measures and appreciated the constant and close cooperation with the USA for the achievement of the common objective of Romania’s accession to this programme, says the MAE.

In his turn, the US secretary mentioned the efficient cooperation with the Romanian institutions involved in the process.

At the same time, he expressed confidence in maintaining the pace and constant dialogue with all the relevant actors in order to complete the necessary stages to achieve the objective of Romania’s designation as part of the Visa Waiver Program, the same source states.
