Forta Dreptei leader Ludovic Orban on Monday claimed that the PNL (National Liberal Party), Nicolae Ciuca, is like „a PSD (Social Democratic Party) rabbit” in the presidential elections, and his candidacy is, in fact, in his opinion, like „a gift” offered to the social democrats.

„In my opinion, Nicolae Ciuca’s candidacy in the presidential elections is, in fact, a gift to PSD, because Ciuca is nothing but a rabbit of the PSD. (…) It’s also embarrassing to talk about the coagulation of right-wing forces so much while you are in a government with the social democrats and you support a prime minister from the PSD,” Orban stated at the Palace of the Parliament.

According to him, the discussions between the representatives of Forta Dreptei and those of the PNL in order to realize a joint project did not take place because of Nicolae Ciuca.

„I want to say this very clearly – I would have agreed to build a project with PNL with the conditions I listed – the withdrawal of their political support for prime minister Ciolacu, even more so today when prime minister Ciolacu who is supported by the PNL is also a candidate in the presidential race, which means complicity on the part of the PNL leadership to support Ciolacu to become president, nothing else,” said Ludovic Orban.
