French foreign affairs minister: We must help Ukraine to defend itself. Moment of dialogue will come

Published on

Ukraine must be helped to defend itself, „to regain its independence and sovereignty”, declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Catherine Colonna, according to Agerpres.

She held a joint press conference with her Romanian counterpart, Bogdan Aurescu, and the Dutch one, Wopke Hoekstra.

There is an aggressor and an aggressed party in this war. It is very clear: the aggressor is Russia, and the injured party is Ukraine. Ukraine has the right to defend itself, according to the Charter of the United Nations. Russia chose the war, chose to wage war, chose to continue this war, chose to wage this war with means that are against the laws of war. Unfortunately, we are currently talking about weapons and we must help Ukraine to defend itself. Not only to resist, but to regain its independence and sovereignty, said the head of diplomacy from Paris.

She emphasized that, for there to be negotiations, „Russia must stop its aggression”.

„We hope the moment of dialogue will come,” said Catherine Colonna.
