USR leader Dominic Fritz reacted approximately four hours after President Nicușor Dan designated Siegfried Mureşan as a candidate for the post of prime minister. The USR president was the last leader of the PNL-USR-UDMR coalition to react publicly following the nomination made by the head of state. Fritz says that Mureşan is the prime minister Romania needs, and that USR will stand by him in seeking parliamentary support for his investiture, gandul.ro reports.
“Siegfried Mureşan is the prime minister Romania needs. USR stands by him in his attempt to build a parliamentary majority for his government,” USR President Dominic Fritz said on Facebook on Thursday evening.
The USR president says that “citizens are tired and outraged by the state’s inability to deliver a better life”.
“The future government must have the courage to carry out real reforms, even against vested interests. To cut spending, respect people’s work and the private sector, invest in the quality of public services and fight corruption,” Fritz emphasises.
“It will not be easy to find a majority in Parliament for this bold agenda. We will not sell our principles for a sham stability. But we are prepared to find points of compromise, even with PSD, whose votes will decide whether this minority government passes or not,” he says.
According to the USR leader, if the Mureşan Government’s investiture fails, it will be time for snap elections.
“If we fail, if those who triggered this crisis cannot take responsibility for their share of it, it will be time to go back to the people,” Dominic Fritz also says.
