Romania’s ambassador to the Holy See and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta George Bologan participated on Wednesday in Rome in the signing of the Letter of Intent on cooperation between the Fundeni Clinical Institute and the Bambino Gesů Children’s Hospital of the Holy See (OPBG), the Embassy informs in a press release.
On behalf of the Fundeni Clinical Institute, the letter was signed by Prof. Dr. Anca Colita, manager, and on behalf of the Vatican clinic, by the institution’s president, Professor Tiziano Onesti. Archdeacon Mihail Buca, who is involved in humanitarian actions to help children afflicted by cancer, was also part of the Romanian delegation.
The cooperation goals included in the signed document are: training of medical personnel for the transfer of skills, abilities and knowledge in the field of pediatric medicine, consultations between specialists of the two institutions, by mail or video-conference, in complex pediatric cases. For difficult pediatric cases, the possibility is stated that, by mutual agreement, the patients are referred to the Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital for diagnosis and treatment on site.
„The collaboration and interconnection of institutions dedicated to caring for those in suffering and desperate due to loss of health are essential, because through their projects, goodness and hope penetrate the world, and hope means life,” ambassador George Bologan declared.
The Romanian Embassy supports and encourages the cooperation opportunities opened by the two medical institutions of excellence, to the benefit of the young Romanian patients.
