The government is addressing the proposals of the Ministry of Culture regarding the resolution of salary problems in museums, and the piece of legislation can be approved next week, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday, adding that, under these circumstances, he is convinced that the Night of the Museums will take place normally.

„Today we are also discussing the proposals of the Ministry of Culture regarding the resolution of salary problems in the country’s museums, but also for other categories where there are salary discrepancies. The Ministry of Finance must confirm the enforcement of these solutions and the piece of legislation to approve it next week. I am convinced that, in these conditions, we have the maturity for the Night of the Museums to take place normally, with the entire list of museums open to the public,” Ciolacu said, at the beginning of the government meeting.

On Wednesday, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu appealed to museographers not to boycott the Night of Museums event, stressing the problems they complain about can be solved through dialogue and not through „blackmail” to which he will not give in.

The trade unions in the field of associated cultural heritage protection within the National Federation of Culture and Mass Media Trade Unions CulturMedia – CNS Cartel Alfa have announced that they will protest on May 18, on International Museum Day, in front of the government Hqs., accusing underfunding in the field.

The organizers of the Night of the Museums event announced that the final list of withdrawn institutions will be announced on Friday.
