The Government approved on Wednesday a draft law regarding the establishment of the „Ioan Slavici” University in Timisoara.
According to a press release from the Government, by approving the establishment law, the „Ioan Slavici” Foundation for Culture and Education – the „Ioan Slavici” University in Timisoara will no longer be a non-profit foundation, and will become an independent higher education institution, with legal personality. It will operate with financing and private patrimony under the name of „Ioan Slavici” University in Timisoara.
Thus, the „Ioan Slavici” University in Timisoara becomes a higher education institution under private law, recognized as being of public utility and part of the national education system, with headquarters in Timisoara.
”The Government initially authorized the establishment of the Foundation for Culture and Education „Ioan Slavici” in 2000, and in 2023 the Romanian Agency for Ensuring Quality in Higher Education (ARACIS) approved the external institutional evaluation for accreditation. In 2024, the Foundation submitted the necessary decisions regarding the establishment of „Ioan Slavici” University. The University will have two faculties: Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering, offering bachelor’s programs in Finance and Banking, Accounting and Management Informatics and Information Technology”, the release states.
