Gov’t approves funding for tractor scrappage programme

Published on

At a sitting on Thursday, the government passed a decision approving funds from the Environmental Fund for a programme to incentivise the renewal of the national fleet of tractors and self-propelled agricultural machines.

„Under this programme, we will help agricultural producers purchase new, less polluting tractors and self-propelled agricultural machines, including related agricultural accessories, which will lead to the sustainable economic development of Romania in the long term and, at the same time, to securing a cleaner environment, because the beneficiaries of the programme will have to hand over for scrapping a vehicle, used tractor or self-propelled agricultural machine,” according to Chairman of the Environmental Fund Administration, Laurentiu-Adrian Neculaescu.

In 2024, RON 500 million are allocated to the Environmental Fund Administration for this programme, with the value that can be granted to a beneficiary for the purchase of a tractor or a self-propelled agricultural machine being about EUR 20,000.
