Gov’t approves holiday vouchers’ settlement mechanism

Published on

The government approved on Wednesday the settlement mechanism for holiday vouchers, Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship, Digital Transformation and Tourism Bogdan Ivan informed, stating also that it is a „very simple” procedure which requires in the first place the employee to provide a bona fide declaration that they will spend the entire amount offered by the state on tourism services.

„Under this scheme, each employee shall declare in good faith to the employer that they pledge to spend the RON 800 provided by the Romanian state in a form in which they will co-finance with another RON 800 everything the tourist package entails. At the end of this procedure, an invoice will be issued that can be verified by the tax authority in real time, using the e-invoice software,” Ivan explained in a press conference at the Victoria Palace of Government.

He added that the vouchers can be used only in tourist establishments authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

„The money will be disbursed after submission of the bona fide statement. The net contribution will be RON 640, there will be a total tax thereon in the amount of RON 160, which will be withheld from the pay card in the following month of pay,” stated the minister.

The vouchers can also be used in fractions, to pay multiple bills, and the beneficiaries can also use only part of the RON 800 received from the state.
