Gov’t borrows RON 10 million off banks on Friday in addition to Thursday’s auction

Published on

The Ministry of Finance (MF) on Friday borrowed RON 10 million off banks in addition to Thursday’s RON 500 million raised in an issue of benchmark bonds of a residual maturity of 48 months and an average yield of 6.59% per annum, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The nominal value of the additional issue was RON 75 million, and the banks offered RON 10 million.

MF has planned for October 2024 to borrow RON 5.7 billion off commercial banks, to which RON 705 million can be added in additional sessions of non-competitive offers related to bond auctions.

The total amount of RON 6.405 billion is RON 730 million higher than the one scheduled for September 2024 of RON 5.675 billion, and it is intended for public debt refunding and government deficit financing.
