Gov’t seeking solutions to keep capped gas prices for longer

Published on

The Romanian government is looking for solutions to keep in place the capped gas prices for a longer time, not only for the economy, but also for the households, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday.

„In addition to public investment from European money, we must also bring private investment into the economy. It is very important that German manufacturers in the automotive industry have been announcing in recent days relocations to Romania due to lower costs. The fact that we have cheap gas matters enormously and, therefore, we are thinking of solutions to keep the capped prices of gas for a longer time, not only for the economy, but also for the households,” Ciolacu said at the beginning of a government meeting.

According to him, investment in energy generation are already being seen.

„There are almost 2,000 new MW, of which almost half are from prosumers. The Environmental Fund now announces that another 20,000 beneficiaries can install photovoltaic panels on public funds, RON 30,000 for each project,” added Ciolacu.
