Romania has implemented or properly treated most of the recommendations regarding the prevention of corruption among parliamentarians and magistrates, according to a new report made public on Wednesday by GRECO, the anti-corruption body of the Council of Europe (CoE), which draws attention at the same time to the measures that must be taken further by the Romanian authorities, including improving the transparency of the parliamentary process and reducing the use of emergency procedures, according to Agerpres.

This Third Interim Compliance Report, „which includes the follow-up Report to the Ad-hoc Report (Regulation 34) regarding Romania”, „evaluates the measures taken by the authorities in Romania in order to implement the recommendations formulated in the related Evaluation Report of this country of the fourth round of evaluation (…) with the theme „Prevention of corruption with regard to members of Parliament, judges and prosecutors” and in the ad hoc Report (Rule 34) which evaluates aspects closely related to the subject of the Evaluation Report related to the fourth round ( …)”, states GRECO.

Thus, GRECO concludes that „Romania has satisfactorily implemented or dealt satisfactorily with seven of the thirteen recommendations contained in the Evaluation Report related to the Fourth Round and three of the five recommendations from the Follow-up Report to the Ad-hoc Report (the Report adopted according to Rule 34)”.
