New car registrations increased by 6.8% last year, compared to 2021, with „electrified” cars registering a jump of 49% and a 21.7% market share of the total, according to statistics from the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA), Agerpres reports.
On the national market, the Top 10 brands, passenger cars plus commercial vehicles, after the 12 months of the previous year, is led by Dacia – with 40,253 units, followed by Ford – with 11,992 units, Renault (11,611), Toyota (10,717) , Hyundai (9,551), Volkswagen (9,059), Skoda (8,669), Mercedes-Benz (7,317), Peugeot (4,103) and BMW (2,985).
Cars represented approximately 84% of all registrations and recorded, in December 2022, a volume of 12,287 units, 4.7% more than in the similar month of 2021.
Depending on the type of fuel of registered cars, in 2022, gasoline engines decreased by 1.2%, compared to 2021, to a share of 64.5%. Regarding the registrations of cars equipped with diesel engines, they decreased by 5% and have a share of 13.8% of the total.
On the other hand, „green” cars, respectively electric ones (100% and plug-in hybrids), as well as full hybrid ones (which also have electric propulsion without charging from an external source), have come to hold a market share of 21.7%, last year.
In this category, fully electric cars have a share of 9.1% of the market, compared to 2021 when they represented only 5.3%.
At the level of the entire year 2022, it is worth noting the important increase of 100% electric cars (+83.6%) and plug-in hybrid ones (+32.4%).
The APIA data reveal the fact that the majority of car purchases were made by legal entities, which cover 59% of the total, and the difference of 41% belongs to individuals.
In the segment of light commercial vehicles, over the entire 12 months from 2022, registrations decreased by 14.9%, the opposite evolution compared to that of passenger cars (+6.8%).
