PSD President Sorin Grindeanu on Monday called on interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to be “responsible and rational” and talk to the farmers protesting in Victory Square. The Social Democrat leader’s message came after the demonstration outside the Government degenerated into clashes between protesters and gendarmes, realitatea.net reports.

“Mr Bolojan, dialogue with the farmers’ representatives is the only solution to stop the escalation of the conflict! Do not merely formally acknowledge the demands through paperwork. The situation can only be defused through discussions. Be responsible and rational! Take action!” Sorin Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.

The Social Democrat leader stressed that “this is not about politics, but about extremist forces exploiting the situation to cause chaos.”

“Until then, Ilie Bolojan has an obligation to come out from behind the curtains at the Government and take firm measures to lower tensions and prevent a dangerous escalation of the situation,” the PSD president added.
