HealthMin Rogobete:We approved certification of seven new centers of expertise in rare diseases

Another 7 new centers of expertise in rare diseases have received approval for certification, bringing Romania’s total to 58 officially recognized centers at national level, announced Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete on Wednesday.

„We have approved the certification of 7 new centers of expertise in rare diseases. Romania thus reaches 58 officially recognized centers at national level. Rare diseases mean complex cases, which cannot be managed in a fragmented manner. They need validated centers, dedicated teams and clear responsibility at each stage of care,” the minister wrote on Facebook.

The new centers are located at:

* „Sfânta Maria” Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital Iasi – through the Regional Center for Medical Genetics – for rare neuromuscular diseases;

* „Sf. Maria” Clinical Hospital Bucharest – Rheumatology Department – for autoimmune and autoinflammatory musculoskeletal diseases;

* Fundeni Clinical Institute – Neurology Departments I and II – for rare neurological diseases;

* „Dr. Victor Gomoiu” Children’s Clinical Hospital Bucharest – Pediatric Clinical Department II – for pediatric gastroenterology in rare diseases;

* „Sfânta Maria” Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital Iasi – Pediatric Surgery Department I – for vascular anomalies;

* ONCOHELP Timisoara – for oncopredisposing syndromes;

* „Marius Nasta” Pneumophthisiology Institute Bucharest – Department 5 Pneumology – for rare respiratory diseases.

According to the Minister of Health, each center has undergone a rigorous evaluation process, based on clear criteria regarding professional competence, activity and capacity for collaboration in the network.

„For patients, this means a better defined medical path and faster access to diagnosis and treatment. For the system, it means unified standards and clear responsibility. My objective is for this network to function as a unit, connected to national programs and European mechanisms, so that each patient can reach evaluation and therapy faster,” said Alexandru Rogobete.
