The National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB) has completed the reception of the modernisation works planned for the second phase of the airport’s movement area systematisation project, with a total value of 56.634 million lei.

According to a press release from CNAB, the investment, which involved extensive works at several sites, is part of CNAB’s strategy to increase the operational capacity of Henri Coanda Airport and optimise the operating conditions for aircraft.

Thus, extensive works were carried out to expand Platform 2, creating 9 new parking positions for Code C aircraft (e.g., Airbus A320, Boeing B737). These positions can also be used for parking 3 Code E aircraft (e.g., Boeing B777, Airbus A330) and 3 additional Code C aircraft.

Additionally, works were carried out on one of the aircraft taxiways and two roads were modernised to ensure rapid access for handling equipment to aircraft on the airport platforms.

„Works were also completed on the rainwater drainage systems from the movement areas, as well as on the lighting system. The new lighting and signaling systems, using LED sources, are built with modern technologies that ensure a significant reduction in energy consumption,” the release also reads.
