Hidroelectrica: We are approaching 900,000 household customers and, according to projections, we will exceed one million

Hidroelectrica is approaching a portfolio of 900,000 household customers, and projections show that it will exceed one million, which has put a great deal of pressure on the company’s business model, but we have adapted and in the future we will be present with a particularly competitive offer for the Romanian population, both industrial and household, Radu Ioan Constantin, CFO, Hidroelectrica, announced on Friday.

„Hidroelectrica’s offer is particularly competitive. At this moment, we are rapidly approaching 900,000 household customers. According to our projections, we will certainly exceed one million household customers in the company’s portfolio. This, of course, has put particular pressure on both the business model, because this shift towards the supply area has involved a resizing of all activities within the company, but we are coping brilliantly even in a particularly dry year. As you have seen, this year is a year well below the hydrological average. We estimate that we will be around 11.4 TW in terms of production this year, it is particularly difficult – the average hydrological year is somewhere over 15 TW – but we have adapted, we have proven resilience, we have proven professionalism and this sharp increase in the supply portfolio has brought us „We are certainly out of that comfort zone, but we have adapted and in the future we will be present with a particularly competitive offer for the Romanian population, both for business and for households,” said Constantin at a specialized event.

He stated that, in the last three years, Hidroelectrica has played a very important role on the supply market.

„In 2018, the market was free, after that we received an Emergency Ordinance 114, when Hidroelectrica had to adapt to the new conditions of the regulated market. After that, there was a reliberalization in 2021, when the household consumer market was re-liberalized again. Now, after these two moments, some conclusions have certainly been drawn by both the government and the political decision-makers. Hidroelectrica, however, in the last three years, has played a very important role in this supply market. We will continue to be present there. There will be challenges, but we take them literally day by day and move forward,” he emphasized.

Radu Ioan Constantin, CFO, Hidroelectrica, participated on Friday at the annual conference on the theme „Energy with Responsibility”, the 9th edition, organized by the InvesTenergy publication. The event took place under the patronage of the National Energy Regulatory Authority.

According to the organizers, the conference theme responds to a real need: to bring to the same table the voices of government officials, parliamentarians, and regulators, along with the vision of company leaders, experts, professional associations, academia, lawyers, young people – future specialists – and, last but not least, consumers, those who feel the impact of decisions in the energy field every day.AGERPRES
