The hourly labour cost in adjusted form (by the number of working days) registered a growth rate of 15% in the second quarter of this year, compared to the similar period in 2023, and compared to the previous quarter it was higher by 6 .79%, informs the National Institute of Statistics through a press release.
According to the INS, compared to the first quarter of 2024, the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) increased in all economic activities. The most significant increases in the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) were found in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (19.72%), the extractive industry (17.62%), respectively in financial intermediation and insurance (14.08%).
Compared to the analyzed period, the lowest increases in the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) were recorded in hotels and restaurants (1.54%), respectively in real estate transactions (3.82%).
Compared to the previous quarter, the component of direct expenses (salary) with the labour force increased by 6.80%, and that of indirect expenses (non-salary) by 6.51%.
According to the INS, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) increased in all economic activities. The most significant increases in the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) were found in education (22.42%), hotels and restaurants (21.67%), respectively in other service activities ( 20.41%).
Compared to the second quarter of 2023, the hourly labour cost (adjusted by the number of working days) increased the least in administrative service activities and support service activities (8.98%), the production and supply of electricity and heating, gas, hot water and air conditioning (9.44%), respectively in performance, cultural and recreational activities (9.96%).
Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the component of direct expenses (salary) with the labour force increased in the second quarter of 2024 by 15.03%, and the component of indirect expenses (non-salary) by 14.51%.
