In 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections, electoral operations to take place in same polling stations

The electoral operations will take place, in the 2024 parliamentary elections, in the same polling stations organized for this year’s presidential elections, the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) decided on Monday.

According to the BEC decision, the provisions are in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 208/2015 regarding the election of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate and the Decision of the Permanent Electoral Authority no. 44/2016 regarding the set of minimum conditions that must be met by the locations where the polling stations operate, as well as their minimum equipment.

„In thoroughly justified situations, the headquarters of the polling stations used in the elections for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies in 2024 may be different from those used in the first round of voting for the election of the President of Romania in 2024, under the condition of ensuring their accessibility and publicity with the a little over 3 days before the voting day”, the BEC decision also states.

Also, if the change of the polling station headquarters occurs less than 3 days before the voting day, publicity is ensured immediately.

The parliamentary elections take place on December 1, and the presidential elections are scheduled for November 24 v ,h- the first round of voting and on December 8 – the second round.
