Incumbent Bucharest District 5 Mayor Cristian Popescu Piedone says he will win the election to the Bucharest City Hall by 42% as a representative of the Humanist Social Liberal Party (PUSL) as he has collected 52,000 signatures for his bid.

„(…) Today I submitted 52,000 signatures. The necessary for my candidacy was supposed to be 20,000. (…) I did not say that I will get 52%, I go with a negative margin of maximum 10% (…), I will win the election to the Bucharest City Hall by 42% as a representative of the Party of Humanist Power. It is true that my personal score will not be reflected in the political score in the General Council. Estimating today in reality, not in virtual reality in which various politicians live, that on political score I will score at least between 12 and 15% at the level of Bucharest,” Piedone said on Friday when submitting his candidacy for the office of the general mayor of Bucharest on behalf of PUSL.

He pointed out that he will submit the list of general counsels in the coming days.

Asked by journalists if he would accept to be supported in the race for Bucharest City Hall by the Social Democratic Paty (PSD), Popescu Piedone said that „it would be wise” to support him.

Regarding a candidacy of District 3 Mayor Robert Negoita for Bucharest City Hall, Popescu Piedone said that Negoita had been a PSD member for only three days and cannot show up and ask for „the right to the throne that others coveted” and were not getting.
