The number of job vacancies at national level was 31,300 in the second quarter of this year, down 3,200 compared to the same period last year, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
During the analyzed period, the highest vacancy rates were recorded in: production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (1.63%), public administration (1.18%), and entertainment, cultural and recreational activities (1.13%).
Also, almost a fifth of the total number of job vacancies was concentrated in the manufacturing industry (5,900 vacancies).
According to the cited source, the budgetary sector accounted for 21.5% of the total number of job vacancies. Thus, 3,200 vacancies were found in public administration, 2,600 positions in Health and Social Assistance, and 900 positions in Education.
At the opposite pole, the vacancy rate recorded the lowest values in the extractive industry (0.19%), other service activities (0.20%), and real estate transactions (0.23%). The fewest available positions were found in the same activities, namely real estate transactions (40 vacancies), followed by the extractive industry (90 vacancies), and other service activities (ten vacancies).
INS data show that, compared to the first quarter of 2025, in the following three months, the most relevant decreases in the job vacancy rate were recorded in professional, scientific and technical activities (-0.28 percentage points), public administration (-0.20%) and in financial intermediation and insurance (-0.14%).
Regarding the number of job vacancies, the most pronounced decreases were found in public administration (-600) and in professional, scientific and technical activities (-400).
On the other hand, significant increases in the vacancy rate were in: water distribution; sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (+0.14%), respectively in Health and Social Assistance (+0.12%).
In terms of number of job vacancies, in Q2 vs Q1, the most significant increases were observed in Health and Social Assistance (+400), Construction (+200) and Water distribution; sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (+100).
