INS: Number of building permits for residential buildings down by 13.3% in first 11 months of 2022

The number of building permits for residential buildings in Romania decreased by 13.3% in the first 11 months of 2022, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reports.

According to statistics, between January 1 and November 30, 2022, 40,969 building permits were issued for residential buildings, down 13.3% compared to the same period in 2021. Decreases were recorded in all development regions: Bucharest -Ilfov (-1221 permits), North-East (-1136), South-Muntenia (-1049), West (-779), North-West (-636), Center (-537), South-East (-517 ) and South-West Oltenia (-432).

As many as 3,179 building permits were issued for residential buildings in November 2022 (-3.4% compared to October 2022), with a total usable area of 912,909 square metres (+1.8%). Of the total building permits for residential buildings, 67.2% are for the rural area.

A decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-111 permits) was registered in November 2022, compared to the previous month. In terms of territorial profile, this decrease is reflected in the following development regions: South-West Oltenia and West (-77 permits, each), South-Muntenia (-48) and South-East (-39). Increases were registered in the following development regions: North-East (+63 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (+36), North-West (+16) and Center (+15).

In November 2022, 549 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (-17.2% compared to November 2021), with a total usable area of 249,414 square metres (-33.6%).

Compared to the previous month, in November 2022 there was a decrease in the usable area of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-126,202 square metres). In a territorial profile, this decrease is reflected in the following development regions: North-West (-76,343 square metres), Center (-18,123), North-East (-17,954), South-Muntenia (-11337), South-West Oltenia ( -6,272) and West (-4,215). Increases were registered in the Bucharest-Ilfov (+4,986 square metres) and South-East (+3,056) development regions.

In November 2022, there is a decrease both in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-18.5%) and in the total usable area (-3.1%), compared to the corresponding month in 2021. In terms of territorial profile, this decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-723 permits) is reflected in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-174 permits), West (-158), South-Muntenia (-147), North-West (-113), Center (-76), South-West Oltenia (-48) and South-East (-35). Growth was registered in the North-East development region (+28 permits).

In November 2022, compared to the similar month in 2021, there was a decrease in both the number of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-10.7%), and the total usable area (-17.8%).

In terms of territorial profile, this decrease in the usable area for building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-54,047 sq m) is reflected in the following development regions: West (- 40,721 square metres), South-Muntenia (-24,646), Center (-22,467) , South-West Oltenia (-2,044) and North-East (-920). Increases were registered in the development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (+19,529 square metres), North-West (+14,206) and South-East (+3,016).
