Interim EduMin David says he could remain in future Government if it adopts his vision for reform

Published on

The interim Minister of Education, Daniel David, stated on Monday that he could remain in the future Government if it assumes his vision for reforms in the field in the governing program.

The minister presented, in a press conference on Monday, a diagnostic report on education and research, as well as the achievements and implications for new reforms in the field.

David was asked if he wants to remain a minister in the future Government.

„Speaking very honestly, I told you the conditions under which I came for the first part of the mandate. For this second part of the mandate, I said that I can or would stay if I see that there is a Government that assumes these big things in the governing program. If these big things are not found, my role is over at the ministry. If someone assumes this vision and supports me in implementing these things, yes, I want to and very likely I will stay. If not or if I have to take such parts, the pieces, the weaker, less difficult things, I do not see my role here,” said the minister of Education.

He emphasized that he cannot implement anything other than the vision he proposed for the reform in education.

„I can no longer go with the National Assessment for the 8th form with two subjects. I can no longer go with the position exam for teachers in this form. I can no longer accept the political masking and the confusing distribution of roles in the counties regarding the attributions in the area of education. We can no longer have universities without clearly defined missions. We can no longer have overlaps in the area of research, development, innovation. There are things that seem very clear to me”, explained the minister.
