At present, there is no issue with ensuring the payment of pensions and salaries, said interim Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu on Thursday.
He was asked on Antena 3 CNN whether he could guarantee that there would be no financial problems ensuring the payment of pensions and salaries by the end of the year.
„If the measures we are planning are implemented, this issue will inevitably be solved (…). I did not say that there is a problem, at present, such a problem does not exist. You brought up a timeframe, the end of this year, so it’s a theoretical issue,” said Catalin Predoiu.
Referring to the statements made by Finance Minister Tanczos Barna regarding pensions and salaries, the interim prime minister pointed out: „Mr. Barna is doing his job as Finance Minister, that is, he is presenting a more severe outlook precisely to make all political and administrative actors more responsible.”
„I phrased it differently: if these measures are taken, including on the political front, and if the Government quickly gets to work and does what needs to be done, then, inevitably, the problem will be solved, in the sense that it won’t arise at the end of the year, as you suggested,” Predoiu added.
