Interim president Ilie Bolojan stated that, „under ideal circumstances,” it is good that anyone who wishes to run should be able to do so, but stressed that the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding Calin Georgescu must be respected.
„I believe that we have a decision of the Constitutional Court, which we can only respect, because otherwise there is no order in a state. Under ideal circumstances, of course, it is good that anyone who wants to run can run, so that citizens can choose who they want. We still have one day to submit candidacies. I hope that everyone who wants to run and observes all the conditions will submit their candidacies, so that in the next two months, organizing the elections correctly and transparently, we can have political debates, we can have presentations of programmes, so that Romanians can freely choose their president and we can have a new beginning in May,” Ilie Bolojan told a press conference held at Cotroceni Palace.
