The acting president of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, announced that he will prioritize in the upper chamber of Parliament the debate on the draft laws establishing the legal framework necessary for the conduct of defence operations on Romanian territory, adopted on Wednesday by the Chamber of Deputies.
„As acting president of the Senate, I emphasize that the safety of Romanians is a priority for the Romanian state. The Chamber of Deputies adopted today two vital bills to deter any form of aggression on our territory. I will prioritize the debate and adoption of these laws in the decision-making chamber. These draft laws establish the legal framework necessary for the conduct of defence missions and operations on Romanian territory and offer a gradual and preventive response in the event of armed aggression. They also ensure the legal framework for the shooting down of drones that violate Romania’s airspace,” Abrudean wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening.
According to the interim president of the Senate, in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies, unfortunately, „those who declare themselves ‘sovereignists’ voted against these draft laws, although adapting the legislation to current realities is essential and in the interest of Romanian citizens.”
„I appeal to the opposition senators to vote with political maturity, for the safety of Romanians, our children and grandchildren, because war does not distinguish between victims,” said Mircea Abrudean.
On Wednesday, the deputies adopted the draft law regulating the peacetime conduct of military missions and operations on the territory of the Romanian state and voted in favour the draft law on the control of the use of national airspace, respectively for the regulation of certain measures in this regard.
