Minister of Internal Affairs Lucian Bode on Tuesday welcomed the publication of the results of the evaluation of the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca on his doctoral thesis and claims that the work „is in order”, „the doctorate title granted in 2019 is maintained”, stating that he will review the errors found, according to Agerpres.
„I would like to welcome the publication of the results of the UBB evaluation following the analysis of my doctoral thesis. The UBB verdict: my doctoral thesis is in order, and the doctorate awarded in 2019 is maintained. Recently, the UBB has issued a statement on compliance with the academic writing in my doctoral thesis, and the result of the verifications does not change the initial evaluations of the thesis in any way. Following the verifications, the UBB Ethics Commission recommended that I correct the citation errors that occurred in less than 7 pages (2 .95 percent) of the total of 220 pages of the thesis. At no time did I appropriate the ideas of others, nor did I give the impression that they belonged to me,” Bode wrote on his Facebook page.
„The excerpts identified as problematic represent approximately 1,923 words out of the total of 65,000 words of the thesis (2.95 percent). Through the verification procedure carried out on October 24, 2022, no new elements were identified compared to the first verification of the thesis carried out on the occasion of defending the thesis in 2018,” says Bode.
„Out of respect for the academic community, together with the publishing house, I will revise the problematic citation errors in the 7 pages, although I do not have this legal obligation,” he argued.
The Babes-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca has made public the conclusions of the UBB Ethics Commission’s analysis of the doctoral thesis of the Interior Minister, Lucian Bode, finding that there are „a number of deviations from best publishing rules – citation errors and some plagiarized excerpts”.
