Hungary will continue to support Romania’s accession to the Schengen space with land borders this year, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, said after a working meeting with his counterpart from Budapest, Sandor Pinter.
„After last week’s talks in Sofia with Bulgarian Minister Stoyanov and European Commissioner Johansson, today, in Budapest, I had a working meeting together with Hungarian Minister Sandor Pinter. We have a well-established diplomatic plan that we will follow until we we will achieve the objective,” Predoiu declared, according to a press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
He discussed with the Hungarian minister measures to combat illegal migration, to strengthen border protection, to combat human and drug trafficking.
„For this purpose, we will supplement both border and judicial police officers, who, in mixed teams with Hungarian colleagues, will multiply our efforts on the lines of work exposed above. We also discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in the matter of civil protection,” stated Catalin Predoiu.
